We’ll pick you up from your hotel and drive you through the scenic routes to start your birdwatching adventure. Enjoy a comfortable ride with our expert guides to the city of Paucartambo and the cloud forest, ensuring a perfect blend of exploration and relaxation amidst nature’s splendor
We start early in the morning from Cusco, heading towards the enchanting cloud forest through the folklore-rich town of Paucartambo. During the journey, visit the Ninamarca Chullpas and the colonial bridge. Ascend to the entrance to Manu National Park, and then descend through the mysterious cloud forest. Observe a variety of flora and fauna, including orchids, ferns, and the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock performing its mating ritual. Arrive in Pilcopata in the evening and stay overnight in a comfortable lodge.
After breakfast, continue by bus to Atalaya and then by boat to Paititi Lodge. Enjoy a scenic boat ride and observe diverse wildlife. After lunch, explore Machuwasi on a traditional catamaran, spotting birds like the Hoatzin, monkeys, reptiles, and possibly capybaras. Optional night trekking is available. Overnight at the lodge.
Paititi Lodge on eBirdEarly in the morning, visit the parrot clay lick to observe various parrot species in their natural habitat. Return by boat and trek through the forest to Collpa de Manu, a private lagoon offering opportunities to observe birds, monkeys, reptiles, and insects. Afternoon return to the lodge, with optional night walks. Overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, return by boat to Atalaya and then by bus back to Cusco, passing through the cloud forest once again. Expected arrival in Cusco in the evening.
The climate is quite variable. Expect sunny days, but also be prepared for cool and overcast weather. At high altitudes, temperatures can range from cool to very cold in the early mornings. Carrying a rain jacket is advisable during the wet season.
Bring binoculars, cameras, and sun protection for the best experience. Rain gear, sunscreen, Hat or cap, Mosquito repellent, sandals, swimsuit, a comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring the varied terrains of the sites visited.
